I am passionate about applying scientific methods and academic knowledge to inform policy-making. To that end, I act as an Algorithm Engineer and Data Analyst at Pairity, a Canadian startup employing technological solutions to facilitate refugee resettlement worldwide.
As an Algorithm Engineer, I design matching systems to pair refugees resettled from conflict zones to private sponsors, taking into account the preferences of both refugees and their sponsors. This work is a pioneering effort in refugee resettlement worldwide, which often overlooked the preferences of non-governmantal stakeholders and refugees themselves. My work with Pairity has contributed to the resettlement of more than 100 refugees from conflict zones in Ukraine and Africa into Germany and the United States.
At Pairity, I also contribute to planning and implementing the monitoring and evaluation of refugee resettlement programs (e.g., WelcomeCorps) in collaboration with governmental and non-governmental partners in Germany and the United States.
